Birds of Dutch soil

From coast to polder, captured in their natural environment.

About this collection

The Netherlands has a surprisingly rich birdlife. From ducks, geese and coots on the lakes to sandpipers and gulls along the North Holland coast. In the reed beds, special species such as the bittern occasionally show themselves for just a moment, while birds of prey circle high above the landscape.

This collection is a gathering of birds I have photographed over the years, primarily in North Holland. Every species, however common or rare, has its own behaviour, character and beauty. With patience, respect for nature and an eye for the right light, I try to capture those moments as purely as possible.
